A Elyria report states W L Fay bought the former Elyria Lumber Co planning mill on East Avenue near Pine Street. A local source claims the Fay factory may reopen within a month with new machinery, offering employment to more workers. Prior to the fire the plant used about 60 hands, including young women paid about a dollar daily.

Masons Gather for Grand Lodge in Cleveland Ohio
A thousand Masons attend the Masonic grand lodge in Cleveland this week while the annual meeting of the board of managers of the Masonic home takes place in Springfield and the Ohio Masonic Veterans association reunion occurs. The Veterans group has about 125 past masters with over 25 years as Masons. the Springfield home shelters 165 Masons or dependent family members, and a large hospital will be built there next year. Frank Harmon of Akron is grand master and Jacob H Bromwell of Cincinnati is grand secretary. Ohio counts over 700 lodges and 47,000 Masons. Cleveland hosts one lodge with 88,000 members.

Trustees of the local Elks lodge near Elyria have agreed to lease all upper-floor rooms for ten years pending special lodge approval. Plans include 5000 dollars for re furnishing 800 dollars for frescoing, expensive furniture, billiard and card tables, a reading room, and a feather bench in the main lodge. Murder at Lorain: double stabbing in boarding house fight
In Lorain, a deadly Sunday night altercation at a Steel Plant workers boarding house left Joseph Kovach dead from stab wounds and Bevan jailed. A Hungarian rival allegedly attacked Kovach from behind with a six to eight inch knife, inflicting fatal wounds to multiple body areas after a night of heavy drinking.
