The board of deputy county supervisors of elections met on Wednesday and awarded its contract to Deveanye Printing Company of Lorain to print 85,000 election ballots for 54 dollars. Elyria Chronicle and Kramer Printing of Lorain also bid, with prices of 100, 73, and 9 dollars respectively.
In Oberlin on Thursday morning Florence Bennett was killed by her husband John Bennett. The husband, after quarrels and a failed attempt to commit suicide with carbolic acid, beat her brains with a club and hid the body in a basement. Bennett was captured in Cleveland and returned for a preliminary hearing. The case has shocked the town and sympathy was voiced for the Bolden family in Oberlin.
Probate Judge Hinman ruled for LS and MS RyGo in proceedings over a strip of the Wal luce property between the freight depot and Westayoune Tand pow, owned by Mrs Sivira Nevada and others. Parizek offered 34,000. she refused. After appeal, the court found the land needed for the extension, with the price to be fixed in two years.
