Turner Block notices offer Hiteman's Bargains with sample properties on Ighton Ave and Idle Ave. Descriptions promise quantity, location, and favorable terms. One nearly new home priced at 31,200 and idle area homes listed with low taxes around 1,300.
A major fire at Elyria’s Harshaw Fuller and Goodwin chemical plant destroyed a timber and sheet iron building about 100 by 76 feet. The blaze, likely started by chemical interaction, spread to nearby structures but was fought by the fire department, which kept losses to other buildings. Extinguishment ended around seven o’clock the next morning with estimated damage near 15000 dollars.
Perry Emper a Lake Shore brakeman was struck by a fast passenger train at North Amherst on Sunday afternoon about three o'clock and killed instantly. He was twenty five years old and unmarried, living in Port Clinton. The train was waiting on a tletrack for the passenger to pass when Emper attempted to cross in front of it.
Governor Herrick Mrs Ralph Gray and Ben Parmeley arrived in Wellington Monday after a trip from Sullivan by auto. Herrick spent Sunday with Parmeley at Sullivan, visited public schools and the library he donated last January, and spoke at the school building before returning to Sullivan Monday afternoon. The party plans to stay on the farm until Saturday then proceed to Cleveland for the summer.
Henry J. Eaton, a Lake Shore brakeman, slipped from an engine near North Amherst and was run over. His mother Agna settled with the railroad on Saturday for $300.
The school board ruled the flag must be removed and all building damage repaired after a provoked clash among students and staff. The class may display colors on graduation day if they comply, while a separate case saw Dennis Driscoll awarded 300 damages from the Lake Shore Electric Railway for an assault.
President Murray and the B and O official party moved through Elgin Monday evening in a six car special train from Baltimore. After inspecting Tatgin car shops they continued on a western tour. Also noted are prices from Boylan Bros for ice cream at 100 per dozen.
The Loraix plant of the American Shipbuilding Company may suspend operations after August 1 unless new orders arrive. More than half the yards have already closed for weeks, with Cleveland Lorain and Wyan sdot keeping open to finish three ships. The lakes’ shipbuilding boom peaked with orders reaching 10 million in 1902 and 45 million in 1903, including a 550 foot monster. now a quiet period follows, with little work expected next year.

The June 1 1904 break in and forcible removal are alleged with trial attorneys Chamberlain Johnson and Leonard for the plaintiff. Mrs Wallace is over seventy and guardianship removal attempts discussed.
Pittsfield residents and friends are listed visiting Elyria Birmingham and Ely areas. Church events and school graduations are noted, with rail ticket sales to Cleveland announced. An ad promotes Hollister's Rocky Mountain Tea for children's health, with payment terms.
At the regular meeting the school board set the future board size under the new code, agreeing on a three member city board of examiners after forming a nominating committee. Three teachers resigned. Currier left for New York city schools, Fargo becomes dean at Oberlin, and Rios plans study. Miss Milla of Columbus was appointed to replace Fargo at 560 dollars yearly. Symone gains 25 dollars extra for country pupil prep. A 94 mill tax levy for next year’s expenses was approved.
Shorty McNulty faced police Monday after returning home intoxicated and smashing several window panes to gain entry when the door was locked. Officers reported the break-in occurred at his residence as they took him into custody.
A letter from Sumner O. Cox received in Elyria says he has just been released from the ships hospital after a siege of Minnes which reduced his weight by thirty five pounds and he remains in the ring though disfigured He notes plans to depart from Oavite FP 1 for Hong Wong seeking a beneficial climate change.
The ministers association held a meeting at South Lorain on Monday morning. Rev Withycombe spoke on Marriage and Divorce. Arrangements were made for a picnic at Judge Webber's lake shore cottage on July 27. A baseball game between Elyria and Lorain pastors will be played in the near future.
George E. Welch brings suit against Wilith E. Welch for divorce alleging wilful absence for five years. They married in 1886 and have three children. Cora EB. Gannett, heir at law of Joseph Gannett of Huntington, petitions for partition of real estate in that township. J. F. Haskell attorney.
The Lorain County nonpartisan Women’s Christian Temperance Union will convene at Mallet Creek on Wednesday June 8. A good program is planned. Attendees are advised to take the 77 m. train on the Bad 0 line and lunch is provided.
August Schroeder fifteen year old son of Mr and Mrs Charles Schroeder of Lake Avenue was struck by an engine on the Lake Shore near the and erent at about 7 45 Monday evening. He sustained injuries that proved fatal, dying at 1 30 Monday morning. He had been a newsboy and usually walked home via the L S and M S tracks after delivering papers. He stepped from the north track onto the south one as a passenger train approached from the east, failing to hear or see the engine in time. He suffered a skull fracture and died after doctors Hart and Cushing treated him.
Clyde Nesbitt an electrician fell fifty feet while working on the new tube mills on Monday. He broke both legs and injured his back seriously while atop a crane after losing his balance.
