Crescents Defeat Florence Club 18 to 5 in East Side Park

The Crescenta juveniles of Elyria beat Florence 18 to 5 Saturday afternoon at the east side park. Strong batting from Eason and Davis and a capital game by Babcock led the Crescents, with a lineup featuring Davis, Eason, Gibbs, Gules, and Babcock among others.

The Elyria Grays fell 21 to 14 to Ridgeville after the sixth inning, with losses blamed on errors. Two players were hurt Becker took a facial kick while sliding to first and Krupmant strained an ankle.

Entertained Elyria Residents by Cleveland Juvenile Band

A group from Elyria including Hon W A Braman and his wife and Mr and Mrs H M And reas enjoyed a concert by the Cleveland Juvenile band of Cleveland. The band members are all under sixteen with a fifteen year old conductor. The party are now at their resort with thirty four benriders and twenty campers from Elyria and vicinity. The Elyria Fremont baseball game was postponed by telegram due to rain. the EAC game is set for Thursday night.

Pipe Laying Soon in Elytis Lorain County

The Logan Natural Gas and Fuel Company received a franchise to supply natural gas to Elytis and Lorain and was granted permission to lay pipes along county roads by the county commissioner. Work will begin at once within county limits after the Saturday formalities.

Castle Athletics conquer Lorain in extra innings

In Lorain on July 10 the Castle Athletics of Cleveland beat Lorain County Athletic Association 10 to 7 after an eleven inning contest. Lorain led 7 to 6 late in the eighth before Hamblys tied it with a home run.

Boy Wounded by Accidental Revolver at Day's Dam

Jonas Quail, son of Mr. and Mrs. F A Quail of West Bridge Street, was shot in the left leg while fishing at Day's dam Saturday night. A 22 caliber revolver fired accidentally while he showed its safety devices, entering about six inches above the knee and exiting at the joint. he was taken home for treatment by Dr. Maynard. The wound was painful but not serious.

Good Roads Convention Highlighting Canton Home Week

Canton hosts a full week celebration from July 27 to August 1 with a good roads convention on July 28. The event features daily conventions in large tents and attracts national figures. Fred H Lewis of Elyria returned from England where he sought health but grew worse. Brought home by four friends after wandering in a demented state, he lies seriously ill at Gates avenue home. During eleven months ending June 1, 1902, 658 libraries in the United States received gifts totaling 9,977,798 54 dollars. Of this sum 7,521,050.63 was for new buildings and Andrew Carnegie made 203 gifts totaling 5,506,000 dollars plus 491,500 dollars to Canada and other sums in Newfoundland Cuba and Great Britain.
