Steven Stevenson of Weat street in Lorain narrowly avoided disaster when a moored ship swung toward his rented rowboat as he returned from Glen's beach. He steered clear by a decisive paddle, but his boat filled with water and soaked him. He plans no repeat of the ordeal.

Lorain Boy Struggles With Lockjaw After Accident

Lorain on July 10 George Krautter age 12 son of Charles Kraut ter of Livingston avenue is seriously ill with lockjaw after a cartridge accident near the Fourth of July. Parents first treated him at home. physicians were finally called as tetanus signs appeared. A council of doctors says the boy is in a severe case and every effort is being made to save his life.

Youth dies after Fourth of July cartridge wound

Fred Bemis a twelve year old boy died Friday afternoon from lockjaw after a blank cartridge wound on his hand. An embedded wadding fragment caused inflammation and the convulsions that ended the fatal illness. Funeral is set for Sunday at 1 PM at the Second Congregational Church with Rev Wanna maker officiating. Interment at Oberlin. Dan Basen advertises contracting on short notice.
