The Oberlin Business College announces the winter term opens Monday January 3 with many new students expected. The fall term was highly successful and instructors promise continued high quality work as applications come in. Meanwhile local notices offer pancake flour and evening ads for employment and housing opportunities.

Miller, a glassblower by trade, is the missing husband of his wife, who arrived in Lorain Thursday seeking him.
A new cave near Pat-in-Bay in Sandusky Ohio was found under William Minty’s cellar, a large limestone chamber with stalactites and stalagmites. It is expected to open to the public next spring. A Baltimore Sun note adds a Panama-hat tale with a donkey misadventure. The voyage tale reports a ship halted for machinery failure causing passengers’ alarm.

The council set annual pay for the Board of Public Service at 100 dollars each for three members and 295 dollars for two members, and 60 dollars per member for seven councilors with the president paid 50 dollars. The mayor is paid 200, the auditor 250, the treasurer 100, the solicitor 250, while the solicitor and auditor keep current terms. the mayor is finally awarded 200 dollars.

Bertha Smith of Mervia and Edgar Johnson of thinity united in marriage at Medina on Christmas Day. Rev. Jesse Smith of the Congregational church performed the ceremony at the pireenage. Miss Smith has worked in the city for the Republican printing company and Johnson is connected with the First Congregational church. Many friends wish the couple joy, peace, and prosperity.
A Baltimore and Ohio train collision near Sterling early Friday injured seven people, four seriously, with the rear coach of the first section demolished. An engineer's alleged sleep fault blamed. no deaths reported. A second, unrelated note discusses the West Indies calabash tree and its carved shell use.
In Tennessee Senator Carmack recounts meeting a convivial man who bragged of a magnificent time last night. The anecdote ends with the man recalling nothing after nine o clock because he heard the policeman telling the judge about it in the morning.
