Bigamy charge against OEB employee Wilford near Rockport

Wilford, a young OEB extra conductor, was arrested by Cleveland officers Sunday night near Rockport on a bigamy charge. He had married a Cleveland woman days earlier and learned another wife might exist. While arresting him, the car he was operating reached Elyria at 9:20 pm and stood on the track for nearly an hour awaiting a replacement contractor to proceed to Wellington.

Man Injured in Fall From Bridge Structure at Lake Shore

Clayton Rogs, a Lake Shore worker on the west side, sustained a severe head injury and neck sprain after slipping from a foot plank on a bridge like structure Saturday morning. He fell about eight feet and struck a landing, with injuries to his head neck and thigh. prognosis is lengthy recovery.

Elyria Fire Chief Reports 1903 Fire Calls Drop

John Haffner, chief of the Elyria fire department, reports 1903 had 15 calls, down from 18 last year and 26 in 1900. Lorain County farmers joined the United Farmers Mutual Livestock Protective association after an agent’s pitch promised a $3 admission to insure livestock until December first. An imposed 23% assessment followed, with many paying amid resistance claims. Workman killed at South Lorain in trolley accident

Nicholas Halfrich of Lorain was struck by a trolley near the Steel Plant yard Sunday night. He died within an hour. He was a 51 year old heater at the Steel Plant and a married man. Motorman did not see him until too late. alcohol is suspected. The company claims no responsibility for the crash.

The Church of Christ at Wellington was rededicated Sunday after extensive repairs. Originally dedicated by James A Garfeld forty three years ago. Dover man killed by car at Rocky River

John Crowley of Dover was struck and killed by a G Band W car at Rocky River Saturday about nine in the morning. He worked at the power house and was trying to attach a fat work car to a motor car when it backed up and knocked him down. He was forty five, unmarried.

Norwalk to Build Large Steel Casting Plant

Norwalk officials of the Norwalk Steel and Iron company met Wednesday afternoon with longtime steel coating industry associates to plan locating and constructing a 200 to 300 by 60 to 100 foot plant adjacent to the current works. The project aims to be erected by summer and begin operation as soon as possible. William Honscher, Lorain customs officer, reports the port’s 1902 business nearly doubled 1901 with 529 weasels entering harbor and 515 leaving. Arrival tonnage reached 875,109 and clearances 870,796.
