Subterranean lake discovery near Eaton township

John Ross of Eaton township reports striking a deep underground water and gas phenomenon on his farm two and a half miles southwest of North Exton post office. A test hole yielded water geysering to the surface with sand and gravel expelled, while a second hole drilled nearby also produced gas and water as crevices released contents. Authorities expect further development as investigators suspect a subterranean river system extending toward Elyria.

Mrs Luay Johnson, wife of Wm H Johnson of UsGrange, died Tuesday morning February 17 1908 from heart failure. Funeral set for Thursday at 1 PM. An earnest Methodist worker, she was respected by church members and the community. Mr Johnson is brother of E G Johnson of this city.

Quarantine lifted at Emmert home on Middle Avenue

The city ends the quarantine from the Emmert residence on Middle Avenue on Tuesday. It now faces no smallpox or other contagious diseases except certain infantile ailments. Neighbors and friends are thanked for kindnesses, and singers are thanked for music at the funeral of Mrs. John Schultz. Frank Schulte.
