A Decatur Alabama reader praises Electric Bitters for indigestion and relief from chronic ailments, while promotional copy touts Gold Cord mining stocks in Colorado and the Florida Special train. Other items advertise Br Kings cough remedy, Boschee German Syrup, DeWitts Little Early Risers, Kodol digestion support, and local farm for sale in Elyria Ohio.
The February issue of Book of the Royal Blue presents detailed authentic dispatches and letters about John Brown’s Harper's Ferry insurrection. It includes old photographs of Harper's Ferry, the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers junction, and a granite marker for John Brown's Fort.
John Ross of Eaton township reports striking a deep underground water and gas phenomenon on his farm two and a half miles southwest of North Exton post office. A test hole yielded water geysering to the surface with sand and gravel expelled, while a second hole drilled nearby also produced gas and water as crevices released contents. Authorities expect further development as investigators suspect a subterranean river system extending toward Elyria.
The quarterly review of the th district KOYM took place Monday afternoon in Lorain. Twenty six tents represented by nearly all delegates attended. A reception followed in the evening and the gathering was described as a very enjoyable time.

Snow swept through the area causing traffic disruption on electric lines. By Monday night a heavy fall of snow drifted and hindered travel. By Tuesday noon tracks were largely cleared and streetcars ran more regularly. Temperatures fell to two degrees below zero Tuesday morning.
Lorain shows a large payroll with over half the population earning wages totaling around 609.00 dollars yearly. The article notes a new Ohio code allowing banks to bid for city lands use, making any bank the depository based on the bid, ending bank wars and personal conflicts in mayoral treasurer elections.
The republicanity committee set candidate payments for the spring city and township election. They debated a primaries date, planned to open voter registration February 20 and close March 2, with daily hours 7 am to 6 pm. Fees include Mayor 20, Council President 5, Auditor 10, Treasurer 15, Solicitor 10, Public Service 5, and various council, education, township, and justice roles with specific amounts.
Mrs Luay Johnson, wife of Wm H Johnson of UsGrange, died Tuesday morning February 17 1908 from heart failure. Funeral set for Thursday at 1 PM. An earnest Methodist worker, she was respected by church members and the community. Mr Johnson is brother of E G Johnson of this city.
Dr Cox a well known Lorain physician enters the race for the legislature, making four candidates for the office currently held by Hon A G Comings. Comings will also seek re election, while Cox’s nomination would place a strong representative from the northern part of the county.
The city ends the quarantine from the Emmert residence on Middle Avenue on Tuesday. It now faces no smallpox or other contagious diseases except certain infantile ailments. Neighbors and friends are thanked for kindnesses, and singers are thanked for music at the funeral of Mrs. John Schultz. Frank Schulte.
Lorain County Baptist ministers and laymen held a two session gathering Tuesday at the First Baptist church in Lorain. Speakers included Dek Smith Oberlin W Johnson Ely via F Chensy Wellington G H Ritchie LaGrange O A Metcalf Elsina F Hodner Grafton B F Toloff Grafton Ingram Bill jr Oberlin Smith Litchfield B E S Chapin Huntington and J L Cook Camden. Elyria residents attended in large numbers.
