The directors gathered in the grand jury room at the courthouse on Saturday to conduct the year’s ordinary business and finalize year end affairs. Several changes were made to the premium list and adjustments were approved.
In Oberlin on Saturday night James Butler fatally shot Riley Black at Butler’s Groveland Street home after Black arrived to collect belongings. Black, a seminary student, died from a chest wound. Butler, a Civil War veteran, was arrested while intoxicated and held without bail awaiting grand jury action.
