The railroad offered eight tickets for twenty five cents and two tickets for a ride to the plant, a thirty three and one third percent cut. Tickets go on sale Sunday, aiding local workers in Syria.

Thieves Steal Art Objects on Gates Avenue Night
Thieves stole a jardinere and porch tug from A. J. Engie and a large jardinere and print from Fred Lewis on Gates avenue Monday night. Police note many porch thefts earlier this season and warn residents not to leave outdoor items unsecured. Elmer Rathwell, injured near Carlisle last July, left Elyria hospital Tuesday and will be cared for at home. A switch engine derailed a car on the B and O near Huron street after collision on main track. James Fay, accused of attempting to pick pockets, is jailed at Elyria and faces Mayor King for a hearing with attorney C F Adams.

Memorial Services for Smallpox Victims at Vermilion
Memorial services were held at the Congregational church in Vermilion Banday for W H Brooks Sr and Orville and Mabel Brooks who died of smallpox in early summer and were buried without ceremony. The church was crowded as Rev J A Kaley led the service with assistance from Rev Hamlin of Chillicothe. The Brooks family with roots as Vermilion pioneers were led by W H Brooks Sr born in 1826.
