Crane Fall Breaks Ankle At Steel Plant

Dannia Granger of Gates Avenue fell from a crane at the steel plant Friday morning, landing about 26 feet to a scrap pile. He escaped more serious injuries in the high fall as he headed to work.

Bass Caught Near Coonsville At Falls

A very pretty Black bass weighing three quarters of a pound was caught near Coonsville on Wednesday. It is likely the first of its kind caught near the falls. The rocky conditions in both branches provide good spots for fishing. A few bait fish should be introduced to improve fishing grounds for Elyria nimrods in a few years.

Arrested Three Times in One Day

One prisoner at the old stockade on Parkview Court set a remarkable record by being arrested three times in one day. After a midnight arrest for intoxication he was fined five dollars and costs and released when a bondsman refused to bail him. He was rearrested within half an hour as he began drinking again. He later escaped from an apparently unsecured tramp room but was recaptured by Officer Whitney.

Tragic Deaths After Lorain Wagon Accident

Bertha Weschler of West River Street dies from injuries after a wagon accident in Lorain. The child was jolted from a flour wagon and run over, despite medical aid. Funeral set for Saturday at St. Marys Church. In later note, infant son of Thomas OBrien of Cedar Street dies. funeral also at St. Marys.

Stockade on Parkview Court Remains in Use

The stockade for hobos on Parkview Court is reactivated as four prisoners work on Broad street patching. James Wogan fell from a plum tree on School street and broke his wrist. Dr. Anderson treated the injury.

Blanchard wins weekly gun club shoot again

Blanchard took first prize for the second time at the weekly gun club shoot with a 23 of 26 score. The running scores list E Blanchard 23 and E Hancock 1, followed by Paul Morgan, W J Hillier, and Alex Dumas in the standings.

Frank Elliott to reopen restaurant Sundays on August 16

Frank Elliott will reopen his restaurant on Sundays starting August 16 after a two week trial. Walsh and Russel will also resume Sunday hours at this location.
