The Chronicle recites a front page dispute over a political bargain claim involving Mr. Johnson and F J King. Johnson denounces the allegations as false while King sends a denial note stating no talks occurred. Grigsby and Schaibly associates corroborate Johnson’s innocence regarding stock dealings.
The Parmelee family held its eighth annual reunion at the home of W E Parmelee on Middle Avenue this Wednesday. Attending from out of town were E Parmeles, Miss Edith Parmelee of Lodi Ohio, J 8 Parmalea of Lansing Michigan, Dr J F Hobson and family of Lakewood, D A Parmelee and family, F Higgie and wife, Mrs Biddle, Mr W Biddle and wife, Mrs L Birby, Mrs Hobson, Ward Parmelee of Clavelang, and Mr and Mrs Griswold.
The Garford baseball team will face Western Automatic Machine Screw Company’s squad on Saturday afternoon at the east side baseball park. A competitive game is expected with local fans anticipating solid play from both sides.
The board of public services orders the clerk to publish bids for constructing the Mussey avenue bridge at once. The engineer is directed to draw working plans for the Mussey avenue and Washington avenue bridges.
Dannia Granger of Gates Avenue fell from a crane at the steel plant Friday morning, landing about 26 feet to a scrap pile. He escaped more serious injuries in the high fall as he headed to work.
A very pretty Black bass weighing three quarters of a pound was caught near Coonsville on Wednesday. It is likely the first of its kind caught near the falls. The rocky conditions in both branches provide good spots for fishing. A few bait fish should be introduced to improve fishing grounds for Elyria nimrods in a few years.
One prisoner at the old stockade on Parkview Court set a remarkable record by being arrested three times in one day. After a midnight arrest for intoxication he was fined five dollars and costs and released when a bondsman refused to bail him. He was rearrested within half an hour as he began drinking again. He later escaped from an apparently unsecured tramp room but was recaptured by Officer Whitney.
Bertha Weschler of West River Street dies from injuries after a wagon accident in Lorain. The child was jolted from a flour wagon and run over, despite medical aid. Funeral set for Saturday at St. Marys Church. In later note, infant son of Thomas OBrien of Cedar Street dies. funeral also at St. Marys.
The stockade for hobos on Parkview Court is reactivated as four prisoners work on Broad street patching. James Wogan fell from a plum tree on School street and broke his wrist. Dr. Anderson treated the injury.
Blanchard took first prize for the second time at the weekly gun club shoot with a 23 of 26 score. The running scores list E Blanchard 23 and E Hancock 1, followed by Paul Morgan, W J Hillier, and Alex Dumas in the standings.
Frank Elliott will reopen his restaurant on Sundays starting August 16 after a two week trial. Walsh and Russel will also resume Sunday hours at this location.
