Lorain Firemen Plan 6th Annual Convention in North Amherst
The Lorain County Fireman's association schedules its sixth annual convention for Wednesday August 19 in North Amherst. Fifteen companies including the Cleveland Volunteer Fireman's Old Boys will join a 1 pm grand parade and afternoon athletic events followed by a $1000 fireworks display. A separate match shoot between Brownhelm and Elyria Gun clubs is set for August 5 at 2 pm at the Elyria club grounds with ten men per side and 30 targets. Aged farmer survives lake boat capsize near Elyria
An elderly farmer from near Elyria escaped drowning after a boat capsized at Randall's grove on Sunday afternoon. He was trapped under the boat but managed to be rescued by a grove employee, then walked home after a change of clothes vowing not to return to the water. Funeral for William Gibbons in Wakeman Wednesday
The funeral for William Gibbons will be held in Wakeman on Wednesday at 10 o'clock in the morning. He died at the hospital Sunday night from blood poisoning. The body was moved from Elyria Monday to his sister's home near Fittsfield, where he had been residing for several years.

Carnival opens with crowds in Lorain during a week of shows
The Hatch Adams Carnival opened in Lorain drawing dense crowds along the lake front to the Wickle Plate crossing. The Tabore band from N I will give free concerts during carnival week and the Morris Berger Carnival company also displays acts in a vacant lot after being barred from the public streets. A surprise party for Miss Leah Barnhart was held on West River street with about 40 friends and light refreshments.

Attack on Klondike millionaire in Seattle home
Thomas Lippy, a Seattle Klondike millionaire, returned from church to find two masked burglars who beat him with a revolver, bound him to a stairpost, and robbed him of two gold watches and cash. A domestic witnessed the attack, Lippy’s injuries are serious, and Mrs. Lippy hurried home after learning of the assault. Lippy previously made his fortune in the Klondike.

Debis Held Over Theft Allegations in Lorain Case

Theodora Kinney and Eliza Kinney sue the Big Four railroad for 15000 dollars claiming injuries from a May 16, 1903 accident in La Grange township. Petitions allege an embankment without guard rails caused a horse to bolt, throwing them. Kinney broke three ribs and suffered bruises.
