An Austrian inventor Here Vetkovic claims a new surface gliding ship will one day travel around the world in a week. The craft, said to glide above water with minimal friction, will begin Adriatic sea trials soon. He expects dramatic global astonishment when perfected.
The G A B ladies hosted a Friday social with strong attendance. Bert and Mrs Smith, formerly of the area, shared vocal and instrumental solos to much applause. The evening closed with dancing and plans for another social by the Uniform Rank at KOTM hall Tolstat. Prof Herthensohn from St Petersburg is writing his autobiography at the urging of friends. Pasternak of Odessa, known for Tolstoi portraits, has painted a new scene of a family reading together.
It emerges that a newly incorporated railroad named the Lorain Ambherat and Wellinggon Railway will serve stone quarries owned by Cleveland men outside the Cleveland Stone Company. A combine bought the property amid disputes, with talk of a lake route to move stone. An old wartime bed near Ca. Point still exists, though the dock has since been washed away.
Judge Hinman and his son Scott travel to Hibbing Minnesota after telegram says Hal Hinman’s body will be buried there. If allowed, he hopes to bring the body home in a sealed casket. otherwise burial will occur in Hibbing. Open dinner hour at Cedar Point awaits Elyria Elks minstrels. Presbyterian church construction advances with basement excavated and foundation set.

The Wellington meeting of the senatorial committee revealed that George H. Chamberlain was not endorsed by the committee despite reports. The article accuses Chamberlain of self issuing reports, betraying supporters, and aiding in the yellow dog faction in the senate. It warns that his record will face scrutiny at the convention hall in Wellington.
The Misses Sohneurer hosted a linen shower at their Second Street home on Thursday evening in honor of Miss Minnie Brosh who is to marry Mr. John Davies on the 29th of this month. Many of Miss Broshs friends attended, expressing their friendship.
Canvassers have finished gathering names for a new Lorain county directory to be distributed in the summer. The book will offer a complete resident and business directory for all county towns, a resource for business people and others. A L Garford left New York for London and Paris to handle Cleveland Screw Machine Co. business, with significant holdings in Paris. He plans a six week trip and will visit relatives in England afterward.
The Sheffield Land Company has given the city of Lorain an all claim deed to parts of lots 63 and 54 to widen the river. Work will commence at once.
Frank Brysak was released Friday morning after being fined 20 dollars and costs in Lorain Justice Halle court for skipping a board bill and being sent to county jail in default. He had boarded years ago at the Armstrong hotel, left owing 18 60, and resurfaced in Berea before officers retrieved him. A friend paid the fine and costs to secure his release.
The MCA hosted an athletic exhibition at the steel plant building Friday night with full Elyria branch attendance. Highlights included a Lorain junior military drill, a Lorain and Elyria seniors dumbbell display, and gymnastic feats. Competitive events saw Elyria Juniors win the straddle ball and Lorain Juniors take the relay potato race. The show closed with a grand final featuring all members.

A delightful dancing party was hosted Friday evening at Elkshall by the city's young people. The organizing committee included Misses Bowen Burrows Stevens and Lerech and Messrs Faxon Ely Cherry and Helmer. Music was provided by the Johneous Orchestra of Cleveland. The event drew many attendees from surrounding cities.
The BMB Club from Mr Metcalf's Baptist Sunday school class met Friday at Miss Carrie Heakson Hows Street home. Ten young ladies work on quilts to aid missionaries overseas, sent to the west and completed by Indian maidens under missionary guidance. A charter social is planned at Mr Metcalf's East Avenue home next Friday. Marriage licenses issued include Martin Stark 61 machinist Lorain and Jennie Trent 37 Lorain.
The 64th anniversary is observed Monday a nationwide celebration with preparations in every lodge room. The order is strong in this city and across the United States and members will spare no pains to mark the event as a major fraternity occasion.
