Will Examine Elyria High School Curriculum
Prof Max Winckler of the University of Michigan will visit Elyria today to re examine the high school curriculum. Elyria High has been an accredited school allowing graduates to enter college without further examinations. The visit aims to decide if this privilege will continue with the present strong management and quality courses. Currently fifty four Elyria graduates are listed in various colleges nationwide.

Pp H Mahon Grand president for Ohio of the CMBA from Norwalk was seriously hurt Thursday evening in Cleveland. He stepped into the path of a westbound car on Superior street while avoiding another on Payne avenue, was thrown forty ten feet, and found unconscious. He was taken to a hospital with head injuries and other bruises. He represents the AB Olnse Go of Norwalk and is well known nationwide. Also, an eight pound girl was born to Mr and Mrs Frank Smith of East Fourth street Thursday night. mother and child are doing well and Frank expects to return to work early next week.

Hinman Dies of Smallpox in Hibbing Telegram Announced
Judge E H Hinman received a telegram from Hibbing Minnesota announcing the death of his eldest son Hal F Hinman early this morning. The message cited heart failure following smallpox after a week of illness and requested interment arrangements. Hal had recently left Elyria for a chemist post with a steel company in Hibbing after working in Pittsburgh and had been in poor health upon departure. The loss saddens the Hinman family and many friends in Elyria Lorain County.

Higher Wages For Carpenters In City Union Meet
The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America and city contractors clash over the 1903 04 season wage rules. The union demands a minimum thirty cents an hour six hour day from 6 30 am to 4 30 pm time and a half for overtime and double pay on holidays and Sundays. The new rate would take effect May 1 1903 though no contract is reached yet. The Lorain rate already pays thirty five cents per hour.

Perham Is Given A Life Sentence
Three prisoners appeared before Judge Webber on Friday morn to face punishment. Elmer Perham was convicted of rape and received life imprisonment under the statute for crimes against an eight year old girl in New Oberlin. Toren Green of Avon got five years in the penitentiary. Edward Green pleaded guilty to petit larceny and was fined two hundred dollars plus thirty days in the Cleveland workhouse. Edward and William Green faced additional charges Nolled. William Dorman of Lorain pled guilty to keeping a house of ill fame and was sentenced to six months in the workhouse and a three hundred dollar fine.
