Good Time to Spray Dandelions
Late September and early October present a good window to treat lawn weeds. Extension horticulturist Ben Vance at Iowa State University advises using 2,4-D in the amine form to control dandelions and plantain. He notes this season is safer for desirable plantings and shrubs, which are hardened and less susceptible to 24-D fumes.
