West Clermont ALCW held a meeting at the Good Home with devotions, a study on mission work, and birthday offerings from listed members. Sunday visitors to the Enoch Nelson home included numerous local families from Hiawatha Frankville Maynard and St Olaf.
The Clermont County Cousins gathered at Zee Ann Dibble's home on Saturday May 4. The group opened with the 4 H flag pledge and shared 4 H sheets on judges' possible selections. Announced talks included Darts by Juanita Bakewell and Stay Stitching by Roberta Paulson. Lunch followed. the Clermont Township Farm Bureau Homemakers will meet May 10 at Joyce Kerr's home with a flag quiz and a California Rose Bowl Parade slide presentation.
Gwen Baechler spent the weekend with her parents after two weeks in Detroit at Virginia Farrell Academy of Advance Hair styling. She trained one week under C Anthony and one week under Carl Doran, all expenses paid by her employer Dorian Dole mayor. Mrs Hulda Sutter’s name was omitted from attendees at the 80th birthday party for Mrs Emma Anderson on Sunday April 30.
WEST CHURCH lists May 12 evening choir at 7:00 pm and worship at 9:30 am with Sunday school to follow. EAST CHURCH features Sunday school at 10:00 am and church at 11:00 am. May 13 notes cleanup at Strawberry Point Bible Camp with May 14 unspecified.
Mrs. Ross James entertained at home on April 28 for Lana James's sixteenth birthday with guests including Mr and Mrs Joe Nelson Mrs Anna Walvatne Mr and Mrs Henry Nelson and family of Odewein Mr and Mrs Enoch Nelson Toyce Larson and Patty Lehman from Elgin in attendance.
The Town of Clermont proposes to vacate Oak Street between Blocks Fifty-seven and Fifty-eight in Thompson’s First Addition, Fayette County Iowa. The plan includes Quit Claim Deed conveyance to Richard E and Ida E Osterhus for $1 and other considerations. Objections must be filed before June 3, 1963, at 7:30 p.m. at Clermont Town Hall.
The report on the collection for the American Cancer Society in Clermont Dover and Pleasant Valley townships is very satisfactory and the volunteer workers are commended. Generosity and cooperation of the people contacted are appreciated. Totals: Elgin $266.00, Pleasant Valley township $94.00, Clermont $1417.50, Clermont township $67.50, Eldorado and Dover townships $145.19. Total $740.18.
The American Legion Auxiliary will hold a meeting at the Legion hall on Tuesday May 14 with Mrs William Nelson as hostess. Mr and Mrs Lucian Appelmann recently visited in the Lynn Probert home at Wakom.
Mrs. Lorrinne Crowe entertained the Birthday Bridge Club at her home Monday evening in honor of Mrs. Fred Cline’s birthday. Crowe won high score with Bess Blake second.
The East ALCW meeting on May 2 opened with president Mrs. George Frieden and hostesses. Devotions from Colossians 2 8 to 15, Bible study Christ is Our Victor, cradle roll party, and child songs were featured. A film A Country Picnic was shown. reports covered supper silent auction and Mother daughter banquet. Funds support Lutheran Bible Camp Strawberry Point. plans discussed for a bus to St Louis Aug 16. Birthdays celebrated for multiple members. Rev Gaylan Nilbertson was acknowledged. offertory hymn Jesus Priceless Treasure and Lord's Prayer closed the gathering.
The Clermont Grade Teachers and Mrs. Moore were guests Wednesday April 24 at the Ladies Aid Meeting held at the home of Mrs. Louis S. Olson.
Everett Rowland of Clermont 4 H and Rex Lincoln with Tom Althaus of Scott Hot Shot 4 H Club Fayette County presented a climatology demonstration to the Harlan Livestock Club at Maynard Community Hall last Thursday evening May 2nd.
The Sheehan Olson Post No 375 American Legion will hold its monthly meeting Monday evening May 13 at 8 00. Rev Joseph Hsu will speak on a subject of interest to all legionaires.

Attendees included Mrs. Leo Wolfs Mrs. Leslie Lauer Mrs. Victor Guyer Mrs. Otto Wolfs Mrs. Andrew Molokken Mrs. Arthur Molokken Mrs. Helen Mork Mrs. Elmer Osmundsen Mrs. Howard Mork Mrs. Mal Lena Peterson Mrs. Lens Kloster Anna Wolfs and Mrs. Knut Evenson. A social visit was enjoyed and lunch was served.
The National Merit Scholarship program named 1 400 winners from 600 000 test takers. James Frank Jr the son of Dr James Larrabee of Clermont now practicing in Indiana was among them. He will attend Leland Stanford University to study nuclear engineering after a four year straight A high school record.
Jerry Eugene Ruckdashel son of Clarence and Mrs Ruckdashel was baptized Sunday morning at West Clermont Lutheran Church. Sponsors were Hollis Lancaster Bloom City Wisconsin. Ruckdashel entertained at dinner. Present were sponsors and Alfred Ruckdashel Merle Ruckdashel Sharon and Philip Ruckdashel.

Bible study on Christ is Our Victor was led. a trip to the Good Penanytap Home was reported. Volunteers are urged to go to Strawberry Point May 13 for Bible Camp work and to donate 50 cents for Jr. choir music. Cleaning the church is planned for May 9 at 8:30. June hosts are Mrs. Clarence Johnson and Mrs. Dean Mitts. program by Mrs. LaVerne Swenson and Mrs. Harvey Meyer. Birthday offering was given. meeting closed with Rock of Ages and a prayer.
