The Bakers Club served at Farm Bar and various families hosted gatherings and visits across West Union, Oelwein, and surrounding areas, including a 50th wedding anniversary for Auburn residents and moves to new homes in Elgin.
Cheery Valley social roundup lists visits and gatherings across Cheery Valley and surrounding towns. Multiple families including Wi Friederichs, Leuchtenmachers, Thoman, Hanson, Wenger, and Christens host dinners, visits, and friendly greetings at homes in Elkader West Union Guttenberg and Farmersburg.
The Marion Happy Hustlers 4-H Club met at the Meyers home with co host Keith Largon. Twenty members attended as Wayne Anderson reported on the Clayton County 4 H mixed chorus. A 2.10 entry fee for basketball was approved. Roger Berg outlined dairy projects and plans to visit members. Demonstrations by David and James Meyer covered Weather Demonstration No 4 and a talk on adding life to lawnmowers by Peter Bilden. History note by Harlan Bilden. Sunday suppers at Lawrence Gehring and Harry Miller anniversaries mark community gatherings. Gerald Bond and the Bond family spent several days in Wa dena.
