Mr and Mrs Eugene Lehman entertained at a 500 card party Sunday evening. Guests included Ronald Loftsgard Earl Lembke Dale Seitz Leslie Lembke and Larry Butikofer. Earl Lembke won the men's high, Leslie Lembke and Larry Butikofer the ladies’ high and Miss Butikofer received traveling. Lunch was served by the hosts.
Elgin Lutheran Church Women held their regular meeting on March 21 in the fellowship hall. Hostesses for the event included Mrs. and other members, as the group discussed ongoing church activities and plans for upcoming missions.
The gathering lists Dwayne Frieden and others as members with Mrs. Martin as pianist, plus ushers Mrs. Russell Wen ger and Mrs. Lyle Martin. Devotions cite Urinthians 5 2 10 and a radio program May 14 on KWLC about fun without alcohol. Lectures cover accessories and baymanship while nails and pattern work are demonstrated. More social visits and a birthday program for Good Samaritan Home October are noted along with many Clermont and Castalia residents visiting, dining, and hosting events.
Illyria Clipperettes held their March meeting with president Jeanette Strong calling to order and leading the pledge to the American flag. Lorales Wenger Melissa Moore and others attended the roll call.
The Busy Bees 4-H Club held a workshop on March 83 at Dorothy Meisner's home. Members spent the day making place mats and other crafts, enjoying a community activity.
A noon sack lunch with an afternoon snack was provided by leaders Mrs Bernard Hanson Mrs John Christen Mrs Dwayne Fried en and Mrs Very Coffin. Attendees included girls Marcia Dennler Audrey Puifer Sylvia Elsie Hanson Susan Blockhus Carol Anh Bec Settee Boe ey Meter Genavieve Christen Pam Vera Coffin Christy Jo 7 year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Carl Muhhausety Jr of Maquoketa had a inch darning needle removed by surgery after it embedded near a lung.
