Polk County Republican to Assistant Attorney General
Des Moines announces West named an assistant attorney general by Dayton Countryman. The move fills staff to nine assistants under Countryman. Republicans Roscoe Pollock and William Dillon push a House inquiry into the highway commission with a five member committee and report by April 4. Democrats seek a bipartisan nine member panel with public hearings and subpoenas, plus a $30,000 probe fund and a January 1, 1956 report deadline to the governor. At mid-session, no action taken.
