Miss Marilyn Kloster and Arthur D. Larson were married at St. Olaf Lutheran Church on February 26 at 4:00 p.m. The Rev. I H Vallem officiated. Attendants included Judy Moschel and best man Donald Parkin. The couple will reside in Luana after a short wedding trip. both are graduates with Navy service noted.
Two year old Janet Mae Evans of Pleasantville ingested a small amount of poisonous fly killer thinking it candy. She was rushed to the hospital and later recovered nicely.
Mrs Belva Snyder hosted the Elgin Study Club last Tuesday. Members discussed the United Nations panel with Beverly Howard and Donna Meinhard. Delegates to the county convention were elected and the group pledged donations to the library music fund and other causes. A large cross on Bald Knob Mountain near Cairo Ill was described as a future unity project with shrines and public access. Next meeting at Mrs H H Wolf, with officer elections and a youth talent act.
Mr and Mrs Dale Klingman welcomed daughter Kathy Lynn born at West Union hospital on February 29 with mother Donna Thein Elkader. Mr and Mrs Roger Reeder welcomed a son born Friday March 4 at Palmer Memorial hospital West Union weighing pounds ounces. Mr and Mrs Gerald Schneider welcomed daughter LuAnn Marie born Wednesday March 2 at Postville hospital. Mr and Mrs James Brown Maynard welcomed a son James Allen born Thursday March 3 at Gelwein hospital. Brown's wife is Beverly Frieden of Elgin.
The first annual Upper Iowa University Speech Festival on campus drew about 100 high school entrants from Wadena Clermont Elgin Luana Garnaville Strawberry Point Arlington Hawkeye Independence. Local winners included Harlan Schultz Sheryl Peterson Donna Lu Murphy and more for humorous declamation original oratory and interpretive reading.
Circle Rachel will meet at the church Thursday evening March 17. Program and serving committee led by Mrs. Jack Adrian chair, with Mrs. William Dummer Muth, Mrs. Joe Brackin, Mrs. Henry Kuehl, and Jane Dennler assisting.
A. J. Black, aged 89, died recently leaving a life largely spent on a Riverton farm. He spent the remaining five years on a farm west of Hamburg, marking a long rural career in farming communities.
Mr and Hospitalized School Janitor Tl. John O. Anderson is confined to his fame with the mumps. David Christen, son of Mr and Mrs Will Christen, was taken to the Postville hospital Sunday evening for observation and medical treatment. Fremont Ogle had a tonsillectomy at the Postville hospital Friday.
General A. S. A. Dayton Countryman Iowa attorney general will be featured speaker at Upper Town University on Tuesday March 29 at 9 45 am. His address titled Law Enforcement invites the general public to attend free of charge.
