Erbe Proposes Annual Budget Fire 189.4 Million

Governor Norma A. Erbe outlined an annual state budget of 189.4 million dollars saying it can be balanced without tax increases. The plan relies on pay-as-you-go funding, uses a projected 346.8 million surplus, and shifts 10 percent of sales tax to road use in late fiscal years to reduce working balance. Erbe urged tax relief through higher school aid and reform of agricultural land tax credits amid rural opposition.
