Readers per line rates include ten cents per line for want ads with a minimum weekly charge of thirty cents when cash accompanies the order. otherwise the minimum is five cents. Blind ads or those with inquiries incur a five cent weekly minimum. Card of Thanks and In Memoriam Cards cost one dollar, limited to ten lines. extra lines are five cents each. Library Seeks Donations to Buy Encyclopedias

The Elgin Public Library received a $20 gift from the Elgin Progress Club to help purchase World Book sets. The Tertia Club reports loaning 235 books to Elgin school children on Friday, Feb. 3, with Laura Ingalls Wilder titles popular. A new window display features hobby books while loan periods shift to two weeks with one renewal. magazines stay at one week. If patrons cannot visit, books can be left at Tillotson's Plumbing and will be collected Saturdays and Wednesdays.

Obituary of Robert Wilson from Elgin and Postville

Robert Wilson son of Robert and Catherine Wilson was born in Elgin June 17 1879 and died at Postville Hospital January 29 1961 at age 81. He married Ruth Connor on August 10 1901 in Elgin and they had six children Marguerite Lyle Leota Genevieve Clifton and Robert D. Bob devoted early life to farming then focused on community problems. He performed Triple A work at Fayette for seven years and then served as county supervisor until 1957.

Bob Howard lived with sister and husband Mr and Mrs Thomas E Howard for five years. He was a devoted father and a helpful neighbor. Mr and Mrs Max Medberry and Mr and Mrs Clifford Medberry accompany Barbara Medberry to Mason City. There she meets two nurses from Methodist Hospital Rochester Minnesota then they depart by train for San Francisco California to seek hospital work. They are staying at the YWCA in San Francisco.
