The Elgin Echo is a Thursday published newspaper from Elgin Iowa with offices of Hermen and Bartuner. It is entered as second class mail matter since September 1 1891 at the Elgin post office under the 1852 act.
The WSCS will hold its general meeting on May 6 at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church. Hosts are Mrs Clifton Wilson and Mrs Very Coffin, with Mrs Reuben Howard leading the worship offering and Mrs John Tillotson in charge of the program.
The Rev. and Mrs. T. Fjelstul and several others attended the ALCW conference convention at Luther College Decorah on Monday. The Rev. and Mrs. Fjelstul stayed for the evening session. Dr. Peter Lenning of Burgan Norway, a U N delegate, was the featured speaker and is giving lectures.
Leon Jacobs and Ed Boleyn shared the win in Elgin Saturday. Numbers drawn were 626 1080 848 1758 706 1152 10 544 262 100 1394 322 1586 434.
Town Council met in regular session at the town hall to discuss municipal matters. Minutes note routine approvals and pending ordinances requiring further review by committee and public input.

Shirley Ann Rainey and Lawrence Joseph White exchanged marriage vows at St. Peter's Church Clermont in a Saturday 11 am Nuptial High Mass. Rev. Currier officiated as the couple’s families and friends witnessed the detailed Peau de Soie gown and lace veil, with matron of honor Elaine Herrling and bridesmaids Jean Sanford and LeRoy Larson in mint and Dublin green gowns.
The ceremony featured arrangements of lavender heather and daisies as 1960 Valley High School graduates Mr. and Mrs. White wed. The bride wore a white knit suit and aqua coat with white orchids for a corsage. Reception followed at the church parlors hosted by Mrs. Robert Hanson. They honeymooned in Dakota and will reside at 700 Sixth Street, Marion. He is employed at D and Glass Co. and is a Cedar Rapids Business College graduate. The bridal party included bridesmaids Connie and Bonnie Friederich, best man Ken Roth, and ring bearer Steven Friederich, with ushers Hubert Hanson John Gass and Arthur Matt. The couple will be at home May 1.
Mr and Mrs Allan Anderson hosted a picnic dinner Sunday at Elgin Lutheran Church honoring Mrs Emma Anderson Clermont on her 82nd birthday and also Stanley Anderson. Guests included Mrs Ken.

About 400 members of the American Legion Auxiliary are expected to attend the Fourth District Spring Conference in Manchester on Saturday May 1. Delegates from 15,451 members across 12 counties will gather at 9:30 am with registration at 8:30 am. A service school leads at 10:00 am under Department Adjutant R J La Laird and Department Service Officer Jerome Scheckel. Fourth District Commander Erwin J Goff will open sessions at 1:00 pm with District Vice Commanders Carson Peterson Joe Shkindelar Jr and sent Kiple assisting. An election of district officers and delegates to the National Convention at Portland Oregon is planned. The Auxiliary meets at 9:30 am led by Fourth District President Mrs Leslie Midlang. Joint Legion Auxiliary banquet follows.
Banquet will be held at 6 30 at the Legion Hall Welcome and greetings will be extended by Manchester Mayor Lou Holbert and Unit President Mrs Milton Bohnenkamp Speakers include Iowa Commander Clarence Askeland of Milford and Department President Mrs E G Randel of Minden A dance will follow at 9 00 p m in the Legion Hall Members are invited to attend the Conference
