Iowa House awaits action on printing savings bill
Iowa lawmakers have not yet acted on a Senate approved measure aimed at consolidating 11 offset printing machines from 10 state departments under the state printing board. The sponsors claim it would save about one million dollars annually while ensuring proper accounting of all state printing costs. The bill does not affect mimeographs or duplicating machines. Senate chair J G Lucas says the legislature spent 926 411 for printing last biennium, though agencies did about two million dollars in that period. The 1953 session is expected to conclude around April 24 after a planned final week.
