A meeting of the Pleasant Pep py Teens 4-H girls is scheduled Saturday Aug 13 at the home of Barbara and Mary Ellen Mairs. All garments to be taken to the Hardin County fair are to be brought to this meeting to be given to the leaders.
J N Martin of New Providence owns two Jersey cows each awarded a Ton of Gold certificate by the American Jersey Cattle Club for four years of production. Mary Lou Dot shows 2 042 pounds fat at 6 years and Mary Lou Smoky Lilac 2 826 pounds at 8 years. This production averaged over 500 pounds of fat per year, two and a half times the U S dairy cow average. Tests were verified by Town State College and the American Jersey Cattle Club.
Alden township directors will sell buildings and equipment of districts 3 5 8 and 12 on September 8 at Alden No 12 school. Nos 3 and 12 have not operated for three years No 8 idle four years and No 5 for ten years. Most pupils ride to Alden with others to Iowa Falls.
Mrs. Roxie Nehring of Reinbeck sues George and Gerald Smith for 26000 damages over the death of daughter Phyllis Nehring, 16, killed in a highway collision west of Reinbeck on April 8, 1948. The case, to be tried by jury, charges reckless driving by Gerald Smith, driver of the Nash car. The defendants are the car owner and the driver.
