Brierfest grows with bigger plans and new acts
Brierfest has grown from a one woman effort led by Noreen Forck to a community festival with an expanded budget of 1100 dollars. The 1986 event features live music by the Bray family bluegrass band Sno King Chord Splitters and the Seattle Navy brass quintet plus a Lip Sync contest dog show and pony rides. The parade starts at 11 AM from Brier Terrace Middle School to Brier City Park with activities at Brier City Park including three legged races gunny sack contests and a water balloon toss. Local officials firemen policemen the Brier Saddle Club and Cub Scouts participate in the parade. The festival raises most funds from food sales and aims to remain affordable despite rising insurance costs.
