Freeway ramps to open near 220th Street S W Mountlake Terrace

DOT officials expect the new 220th Street S W ramps to open to motorists by late next week adding a southbound I-5 entrance and a northbound exit. Terrace widens 220th to add a left turn lane and sidewalks from I-5 east to 56th Avenue West while traffic may be restricted to one lane eastbound at times to finish work. City officials fear early opening could worsen congestion with ongoing road improvements.

Centennial Center 15 years of debate and a vote looming

The Enterprise begins a four part series on the Centennial Center in the arts district. The $19 million proposal would build an 1800 seat main theater and a 350 to 450 seat secondary theater on Edmonds Community College property with maintenance paid by the college. The idea traces to 1971 and includes a history of political wrangling and planning by local residents and officials as they seek a single regional performing arts venue.
