Edmonds sewer survey asks pay now or pay later
Residents will vote on phasing in 1987 or 1988 sewer rate increases to support secondary treatment with an extra year's revenue placed in reserves. The plan would raise monthly charges from 7.46 to about 7.92 or 7.96, while pay now would set an 18.90 monthly payment for a single family home under the new schedule. The city seeks input from 7,857 homes and 643 buildings, and asks if residents would cover a $4 to $5 rise to move the plant four blocks.

Freese files for 211th District house seat as Republicans weigh plans
Lynnwood tax attorney David Freese, 38, announced his candidacy for the Washington state House from the 211th District Position 2. He seeks the Republican nomination to replace Rep. Gary Nelson, who runs for the Senate, outlining priorities of responsible spending, economic development, and job creation. Freese calls for tax system revision and lowering burdens on small businesses, arguing the state faces economic problems that cannot be solved by more spending or taxes. He notes his background in tax and bankruptcy law and his education at WSU, UW, NYU, and CPA certification.
