Lynnwood City Council discusses amendments targeting pit bull terriers and other dogs labeled dangerous. The work session inside July 7 explores definitions bans and penalties with a council vote planned for the Monday night meeting.
A pit bull named Rascal escaped during the Budweiser Clydesdale Team visit at Lynnwood's Lynn-O-Rama. The dog fought two Dalmatians, injuring David Callahan and prompting police action. Callahan, Anheuser Busch district rep, needed hospital care for severe wrist bites. the pit bull owner Tracy Bishop was cited and fined. The Dalmatians remained unharmed.
Jeppesen, 46, charged with four counts of first degree assault and one count of attempting to elude in King County, was ruled competent to stand trial by King County Superior Court Judge Terrence Carroll on July 3. The Snohomish County man led a high speed chase along I-5 last October after refusing to surrender license and registration, firing from his car and injuring a deputy and a Seattle officer.
A Bothell man, Dwight E. McGunnigle, 31, faces second degree murder charges in the July 7 shooting death of his wife Kathleen McGunnigle, 28, in Lynnwood. He was ordered held in Snohomish County Jail on $50,000 bail after the Everett District Court appearance. The couple, in a 1976 Porsche 914, were pursued after a police encounter on 200th Street Southwest, with the incident occurring around 11 p.m. and leading to further developments on Page 2-A.
Lynnwood woman identified as Jean, a longtime dance judge, was attacked at the Raintree Inn while a crowd looked on. She punched back after a young woman grabbed her wrist and twisted it. Jean sought treatment for a sprained wrist and a cracked finger, and the assailant remains at large.
