Dr Cookie cookie business aims for national franchise growth
The Yarnall family expands the Dr Cookie cookie line from a Westgate shop into a Seattle area network with two new outlets planned this year and potential national franchising. Dr Stephen Yarnall, a cardiologist, partners with Dr Marvin Wayne, inventor of the healthier cookie. The cookies come in four varieties and are sold in 28 count packages at Safeway and via caterers. David Yarnall manages production at the first outlet, which also serves as a bakery. The plan includes franchise distribution and expansion to Bellevue, the University District, or Pike Place Market, with emphasis on fresh turnover and the shift from retail to wider distribution. Stephen hopes to pitch cookie and milk to corporations and possibly secure airline contracts. The project remains part of a busy life for Stephen, who oversees Fitness Dynamics and Edmonds Triple-Thon commitments.
