Gardeners Against Hunger aims to feed south county families

Rich Allen founder of Gardeners Against Hunger says local home gardens can boost fresh produce for Edmonds area food banks. He plans a weekend Farmer's Market in the Edmonds Unitarian Church parking lot with volunteers to collect, sell some produce, and fund cash contributions for ongoing food bank use.

Guilty plea in credit scam case involving embossing machine

Steven Mohamed Fazil 31 pleaded guilty to a federal conspiracy charge for aiding a credit card fraud ring that printed cards from stolen numbers. Sentencing set for February 7. he agreed to cooperate with Secret Service. Accomplices Denise Danzie and Tanya Mann were indicted. Police found $26,000 cocaine, two handguns, and $5,100 cash during a Dec. 6 Lynnwood search. Calvin Valerie and Sandra Robinson, residents of the Lynnwood home, face drug and firearm charges with bail set at $50,000.

Allen family seeks youth help with student gardener program

The Allen family proposes a student recognition project to honor young gardeners. Students from a single grade at each school would compete for the most produce donated. A receipt at the Farmer's Market would record each donation's value per pound and note the student name, school, and grade.
