Edmonds considers covering Yost Park Pool for year round use

Edmonds officials weigh turning Yost Pool into a year round facility with a cover, repairs, and added amenities. Steve Simpson, parks director, says a cover plus sauna, spa, exercise area, snack bar, and racquetball courts would boost revenue from about 30,000 dollars annually to better utilize an 800,000 dollar investment. Estimated total costs could reach 1.5 million with a pool cover up to 850,000. The proposal awaits more cost data and council direction in the coming weeks.

Council slashes funds for Yost Park public trails project

EDMONDS The city council cut 14875 from a 20000 public works project to rebuild trails and bridges in Yost Park, part of a January approved program to create minimum wage local jobs. The full 65000 appropriation has funded streams, sidewalks, cemetery work and drainage inspections, while Yost Park faced repeated windstorm damage and debate over permanent need.
