The Edmonds City Council voted 4-3 to designate Sunset Avenue from Edmonds Street to Casper Street as a quiet zone the first on the city. The measure restricts radios recording devices musical instruments and televisions audible within 30 feet of the source. Authorities plan to enforce with a part time police officer hired to patrol evenings in summer. Residents' petitions and mixed views followed with some opposing and others supporting citywide quiet zone expansion.
