Underground disaster facility designed to sustain government function
Brown described an underground emergency facility built to house 300 people for a month to run government operations in a disaster. It features back-up power, water and sewer, flood protection, modern freeze-dried food, earthquake and blast resistant systems, a helicopter pad, and the oldest General Telephone switchboard. Agencies that would move in include Treasury IRS, Federal Reserve Bank, Coast Guard, Defense, Army Reserve, with Red Cross assisting social services. Emergency management aims to organize under extreme stress to help the community survive.
