Parker named Mariemont village solicitor after Fisher

David Parker appointed solicitor for the village of Mariemont replacing Donald A. Fisher who resigned effective Sept. 1. Parker, a Tennessee native and UC College of Law graduate, serves alongside his wife Kathleen and two children. He stated he would work with the council after being sworn in at the Sept. 26 meeting.

Ault Park Creations Move Forward With Federal Funds

Madisonville zone changes approved by committee

The urban development planning and housing committee approved most Madisonville zone changes from a public hearing September 13. Councilman James Cissell said only one proposal was held over, a small parcel at Madison and Red Roads owned by the Children's Home, which opposed reclassifying from business to residential. The rest were approved by the council on September 28.

Halloween Observance Moves to October 31 in Terrace Park

Terrace Park council approves an official Halloween date of Monday October 31 with activities starting at 6 p.m. and a 7 p.m. signal. Mayor Ray Cadwallader notes Hamilton and Clermont counties will share the date for their observances.

Fairfax Council Opposes Route 50 Relocation Plan

At the September 28 meeting Fairfax council unanamously opposed relocating U.S. Route 50. The session also reappointed Charles Long to a three year term on the recreation commission and gave final appointment to Patrolman Charles Nicki, ending his six month provisional term on the Fairfax police force.

Mariemont Council honors late Mayor Charles Straley

Mariemont Village Council adopted a resolution honoring Charles Straley who served as mayor from 1962 until his death in 1977. The measure notes his long service on council from 1951 to 1955 and his involvement with the Mariemont Community Church and Kiwanis and directs minutes and family notice.

Watercolor by Dino Costanzo tops Ducks Unlimited auction

An original watercolor by 18 year old wildlife artist Dino Costanzo of Terrace Park sold for 375 at the September 21 Cincinnati Ducks Unlimited banquet auction to benefit Ducks Unlimited. Dino attends Miami University in Oxford and has donated paintings for three consecutive years, supporting waterfowl habitat and conservation efforts in North America.

Bicycle Safety Lane and School Forum Take Place in Mariemont

A bicycle safety lane event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday October 8 at the Mariemont municipal building with bike inspections and licenses issued to aid return of stolen bikes. Cincinnati School Board candidates participate in an open forum at Kilgour School at 7 30 p.m. Thursday October 6. Zoning petition withdrawn near Zumstein Avenue

The Cincinnati City Council committee cancelled a hearing on a zoning change for 3430 to 3432 Zumstein Ave. The proposal would shift part of the A-4 district into the O-1 zone and was disapproved by the Planning Commission. The filing party withdrew the application.
