Ombudsman program aids Cincinnati nursing homes

Hyde Park Residents push revised plan for Mudhole site

HPRA outlines a five part plan for the Erie Marburg Recreation Site describing tennis courts a focal plaza improved lighting and pathways and a drinking fountain. The project budget of 132 300 from the Federal Economic Development Administration may cover the first priorities with potential future funding. Completion aimed for spring 1978 with bids expected by late October.

Tornado of Oct 1 Strikes Madisonville Area

A morning tornado hit Madisonville on October 1 causing swirling trees and downed power lines. Debris blocked streets for hours and several cars in the NuTone parking lot at Madison Road and Red Bank Road were flipped over. A bent street sign was noted last week.

Restoration begins at Eastminster Church after storm damage

Eastminster Presbyterian Church at 4606 Erie Ave suffered a fallen tree strike on Oct 1 that tore the steeple and part of the roof. Inside, the sanctuary cracked and the front stained glass window was damaged. Despite a vacant pastorate and a 398 member congregation, members work together to restore while Sunday School and services continue in the fellowship hall.

Hyde Park GHPCC environmental committee lists projects

The Greater Hyde Park Community Council environmental panel announced priorities including restoring Cincinnati streets with lamps on the National Register, correcting the gas station eyesore at Observatory and Morton, presenting Metro options for Hyde Park bus shelters, and keeping the park free of advertising clutter. Members cited include Marietta Ginnochio, Mrs. Mark Herschede, Fred Mitchell, Katherine Ryder, Norman Whitaker, and Nora May Nolan. They thanked the Christian and Missionary Alliance for its backing.

Stinger hockey ticket winners announced in CSNP Classifieds

Hyde Park Square Art Show draws 5000 plus attendees

The Hyde Park Square Art Show, sponsored by HPSBA, drew more than 5,000 visitors on October 2, with 166 exhibitors showcasing sculpture, painting, graphics, photography and crafts. Prizes total 1500, 100, 50 and 25, funded by exhibitor entry fees while founders Ferrara and Summer are honored.
