Hyde Park residents chose fifteen Association directors on May 22 with over 100 attendees. Elected for three years were Sam Jenike Henry Stefanik Bill Miller Paul Naberhaus and Don Mooney. Two year terms went to Mary Ann Jenike Mike Harmon Bob LaTour Rick Naberhaus and Ginger Hamm. One year terms assigned to Len Hamm Don Gardner Fran Naberhaus Arlene Worstel and Phil Metz. A Brendamour block proposal sparked traffic concerns and calls to end dead-ending Michigan and Shaw Aves. Police oppose street closures citing emergency access worries as hearings continue in city hall.

Building permit denied for Liberal Market project
Ely Ryder from the city solicitor's office said he would recommend denying Liberal Market's request to build a store at Erie and Marburg. He proposed applying for a variance through the building department and possibly the zoning board of appeals. The Erie Marburg site has 115 feet of business zoning depth, while 140 feet was required for the supermarket. Greg Tabler, son of Mr and Mrs William Tabler, was named to the Society of Outstanding American High School Students and will join their award program supporting college scholarships and civic responsibility.
