Oakley Council sets top budget priorities and safety concerns
Oakley residents at the May 23 Community Council meeting backed a senior citizens center as the top priority for the city budget. They also sought clinics, social services, and a neighborhood business study, while stressing zoning enforcement and keeping the area residential. Local issues included a Pillars subdivision zoning appeal, Mad Hatter nightclub nuisance and parking, Kenner plant employee parking, and a stalled playground program funding. A June 18 steering meeting and a September 26 council session were announced, with nominations to be sought for office.

Councilman seeks uses for Erie and Marburg mudhole site
Cincinnati Councilman Tom Brush asked the recreation commission for a recommendation on possible uses of the Erie and Marburg mudhole property. The city solicitor recommended denying Liberal Market's permit to build a food store there due to depth and variance issues. The extension would usually need single ownership, but UC's long term lease with JFL appeared dual ownership at this site. Brush said next steps include exploring recreation use and pursuing appropriations, with the developers able to appeal to the zoning board of appeals.
