Tabiona and Duchesne teams competed in a track meet held at Duchesne with events across sprints distance jumps and relays. athletes from both schools posted times and marks highlighting a competitive dual meet.
The Duchesne 1st Ward Relief Society Bazaar is set for Friday April 29 starting at 6 p.m. Items for sale include a Second Hand Store bake sale and candy and hand cream gifts for Mother's Day. Proceeds support relief society work led by Mrs Marvella Wilkerson and officers. Families are urged to attend for entertainment and activities for children.
West Duchesne County volunteers from the American Cancer Society go door to door to share cancer detection and prevention information and collect household contributions. Under Mrs. Bernice Atwood of Bluebell as Crusade chairman, local workers include Anna Lee Mathews Sylva Bristol Inger Mathews Bonnie Carroll Annabell Warren Colleen Thacker, with Mrs. Donna Wilkerson of Duchesne as unit chairman.
Six people were injured in a road collision near Blue Beach involving the Young and Fitzgerald vehicle transfers took place just before impact. Passengers included Billy Bailey Roger Mountain Brent and Colleen in the sedan with Billy Bailey and James Mountain treated at Roosevelt Hospital in Duchesne.
Miss Merlyn Taylor announces DHS student ratings from the Regional Commercial Meet held April 6 at Union High School Roosevelt. Type I students include Marsha Fitzwater Julie Marett Maureen Moon Melanie Meriwether Adele Lewis with ratings superior minus and good. Shauna Freeman Adele Marett excellent. Charlotte Timothy Sherrie Roberts good. Susan Mitchell honorable mention shorthand. Dorothy Lewis superior minus.
Neill C. Jensen serves as program chairman for the Lions Clubs zone meeting in the Uintah Basin. The event is at the Duchesne Elementary School multi purpose room on April 28 at 8 p.m. Kay Hamilton, Duchesne Lions Club president, says preparations aim to feed about 200. lunch kitchen ladies are cooking the banquet.
