New Treated Cotton Won’t Mildew Rot

Auburn scientists at the U S Department of Agriculture developed a new cotton fabric treatment that resists mildew and rot. The ground test lasted six months with little loss of strength and it preserves the appearance and strength of ordinary cotton while remaining odorless and non sticky. The process resembles acetate rayon production and yields safe sacks for shipping food and feed products without harmful effects on foods, supporting essential wartime salvage needs.
