Early synthetic fiber Torvlene and wartime textile push
A historic report describes the development of a synthetic fiber from terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol leading to a heat resistant, ironable material called Torvlene. Chemists under Dr Dickson tested the fiber, which later influenced textile production nationwide, while a wartime program coordinated by authorities funded social initiatives.
