Ann Arbor May 17 AP Doctor Tom Lovell 79 a mentor to generations of Michigan students is dead. The London born cobbler and self styled poet traveler claimed to be one of the four great Americans and amused undergraduates by mending shoes and distributing his poetry. He announced candidacies for university president and gave honorary degrees. Lovell sold poetry and newspapers in later years and will be mourned by 70 000 alumni.

Accident on Campus Injures Girl at Colored School
A 43 year old African American student Osi Lee Anthony was accidentally shot and seriously wounded on the Colored school campus yesterday. Willie Mack Rambo, a Black youth, held a 22 caliber pistol that discharged injuring the girl in the abdomen.

Joe Hayes challenged a Cherokee circuit court conviction from 1929 for illegal possession of illicit liquors. Divinity student kills wife in personal crisis report
Low Mi Dutton, 23, of Bellflower Missouri fatally slugged his wife Nellie Dutton 21 then attacked her mother Mrs Frank Campbell with an iron pipe. He leaped into the Missouri River from the St Charles bridge and died. Both women suffered skull fractures. Mrs Dutton died after premature birth. Mrs Campbell is in serious condition. Dutton blamed Mrs Campbell and her husband for separating him from his wife. He was a divinity student and the son of a Bellflower minister.
