HOHENWALD Tenn May 16 AP Fired upon from ambush at close range one member of a prohibition raiding party was killed instantly and another fatally wounded near here yesterday afternoon. Deputy M L Newton 37 of Lawrence county and Luke Hinson 31 of Lewin county were ambushed as they neared a ravine where a still was sighted. Newton was killed, Hinson died in a Columbia hospital. John P Himes Jr 47 was later arrested on a murder charge based on Hinsons information. Newtons widow and six month old child survive.
