Snow storms strike broad areas across the U S

Post Easter storms swept the North Atlantic states causing multiple deaths and heavy damage. Northern New England and upstate New York saw several feet of snow and stalled autos while coastal towns faced high waves. A tornado near Richmond killed a boy in a house and four drowned in Bedford New York after an auto plunged into a lake. Governor Roosevelt was snow bound at Hyde Park.

Trial Tomorrow Forman Arrested On Robbery Count

William Penn, in county jail almost a week, will face a preliminary hearing tomorrow before Probate Judge Harry K. Martin on a robbery charge. Penn is linked to the C. W. Vickers store hold-up in which 18 year old Nellie Vickers was forced to surrender $75 at gunpoint. A description matched a getaway car, with two other suspects still at large. officers continue to search for them and the car remains in custody.

The American Legion hosts a Thursday night dance at Porter's Fairyland in Dothan to honor the 29th Infantry arriving from Fort Benning on a practice march to Panama City. New York March 29 AP Russia is ranked by the Amtorg Trading Corporation economic review as second only to the United States in industrial output and national income. The Soviet Union advanced from fifth place since 1928, passing Germany France and Britain. In 1931 national income was 37.8 billion rubles in 1926-27 prices, about 25.5 billion in prewar prices, nearly double 1913 and above pre-crisis levels of Britain and France.

Del Monte Cafe Reopens After Fire Damage

Del Monte cafe on N Foster Street, damaged by an incendiary fire on March 13, has been repaired and redecorated under the same management and will reopen tomorrow. Fire officials said gasoline started the blaze and firemen confined the damage to smoke and flames were quickly put out.

Peerless Motor Car President Shoots Self in Ohio

Lewia H. Kittredge 61, president of the Peerless Motor Car Co during its peak years 1906 to 1921, shot and killed himself Monday. His wife Blanche Kittredge and her brother Jian Van Giaher found the body when he returned home after a brief absence.

Eastern college group heads home from Kentucky coal fields

About 70 Eastern college students, finishing a sociological survey in Southeastern Kentucky, boarded two buses in Frankfort to return home. They failed to visit Harlan and Bell counties where labor troubles caused deaths, but did meet Governors Ruby Laffoon and Henry Horton to report alleged mistreatment by state officers and seek legal guidance.

Pastor Confers With Lindbergh Then Flies South

Rev H Dobson Peacock of Norfolk Virginia, an intermediary in the Lindbergh baby case, left Philadelphia for Virginia by air after a meeting with Charles Lindbergh. Peacock, who risked his life to reach Hopewell New Jersey, said publicity could delay a happy ending though he remained confident. He planned further talks with Lindbergh in two or three days as weather allowed.

Hoover Opposes Soldier Bonus Legislation

President Hoover announced he was absolutely opposed to enactment by Congress of additional soldier bonus legislation and said he would veto such a bill if passed.
