Indicted for Arson After Clayton Explosion

Thomas L Cravey J C English and Gil Alabama faces multiple arson counts for a store explosion at Choctaw near Clayton which destroyed four buildings and caused $25 000 in damage. Bloodhounds led police to Craveys home. Cravey bond set at 5000. Eng lish bond set at 10000. Fire Marshal D M Slaughter and T M Patterson led the inquiry for the grand jury which returned indictments yesterday.

Finnell Audiences Promises Cash-Sparing Alabama Roads

Colonel Finnell Democratic gubernatorial candidate and current state highway commissioner told a Houston county crowd he would build a superior road system without raising taxes. He urged a prison trustees board to replace gubernatorial control, opposed large bond issues, and supported tax cuts while maintaining schools and road work funded by federal aid.
