Third grade pupils at Hartford elementary School led by Mrs Herbert Wycrin presented a program at the regular Hartford Parent Teacher Association meeting on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs Wynn s class and seniors won attendance prizes. Mrs Harvey Stewert presided. Mrs Weed reported on school lunch materials. Jimmy Hitchcock political bid crosses Alabama line

Jimmy Hitchcock 34 former All-America halfback and pro baseball player takes office Jan. 20 as associate member of the Alabama Public Service Commission. He beat incumbent James Perdue in the Democratic primary after managing the Opelika club in the Georgia Alabama Baseball League. He was born in Union Springs and starred at Auburn in 1928 on an undefeated team. He later played Major League Baseball and served in Navy duty.
