Illicit Stills Seized In December In Alabama

Eighty two whiskey stills were seized in Alabama by Alcohol Tax Unit investigators during December. ATU Investigator R B Phillips reported eighty eight arrests and 2838 gallons of mash and 410 gallons of whiskey seized. Eight automobiles used to run whiskey were confiscated, valued at about 39975 dollars. Cars seized are held for the government or sold at auction.

Two Black defendants Charles Eddie Mc Cray and Aaron Brown pleaded guilty before Judge D C Halstead to grand larceny and second degree burglary and have filed formal probation applications. McCray received a two year sentence for grand larceny while Brown got two years for burglary.

Jasper youths tied to multiple burglaries claim debts

Negro Woman Faces Shoplifting Charge in Dothan Stores

Atlanta Davis, a Negro woman from Gordon, was arrested yesterday by city police on a charge of petty larceny for shoplifting from two Dothan stores. Officers valued the stolen merchandise at about $5. The suspect has been released on bond.
