Aged man killed by train on Sylva railroad trestle
John James aged 60 of Sylva died attempting to cross a railroad trestle two miles east of Sylva. Trapped on the trestle he could not reach safety before a moving freight train overtook him. Witness Neal Knox said James sprinted for the far end but was knocked from the track and killed.
