Atlanta Woman Faces Murder Charge Today

Atlanta, Feb. 12. Mrs. Peggie French, 35, was ordered held for the grand jury on a murder charge by a coroner's jury that investigated the slaying of John S. Garman, 41, a Southern Railway train dispatcher, in her home early yesterday. The jury heard more than a dozen witnesses including Mrs. C W Garman, the slain man's mother, and Mrs French who said she fired in self defense. Mrs Garman testified that Mrs French had repeatedly telephoned and threatened her son's life if he did not leave another woman.

Change of meeting place for Ruth Cooper class

Miss Ruth Cooper's extension reading class was set for Dothan high school this Saturday but will now be held in Ashford instead. C. W. Johnson, Superintendent of Education, announced the change. Cooper is a member of the State Teachers College faculty in Troy.

Son of Ex-Dictator Sues for Honor in Madrid Duel Tale

MADRID, Feb 12 AP A clash between Miguel Primo de Rivera, son of the former dictator, and a detractor in a Madrid cafe sparked a fight over an insulting letter. The manager called police as both men traded blows. Primo de Rivera, once premier, declined to demand a personal duel and has apologized to a challenger since June.

Ashford Cooperative Market Log Sale Promoted at Ashford

Ashford Cooperative Marketing Association planned a public auction of nearly 200 logs at their pens in Ashford. The sale was announced from the office of County Agent Henry Witherington. L. Rodney, manager of the Ashford association, would have overseen the event.

Hoboes Released By Judge Baxley For Vagrancy

Common Pleas Judge Keener Baxley released Nuncia Eugrasa and J H Kline from vagrancy charges after hearing they were en route to prospective jobs. Kline claimed California origin while Eugrassa said Philadelphia. Both planned to Jacksonville and Orlando respectively. another Negro, George McKenzie, was given a week to raise funds to pay his fine.
