federal prosecutors announce swift trials for 156 persons and 31 corporations indicted in Chicago and Springfield for supplying yeast and corn sugar to illicit distillers. A separate raid on the Hotel Manger in New York leads to padlock actions against the 20 story venue after prohibitions agents arrest 13 occupants and indict eight more.

Smith and Jordan Seek Revenue Board Seats in Fourth District

A. W. Smith and A. L. Jordan, farmers from the fourth district, qualified as candidates for the Board of Revenue yesterday afternoon before Judge Harry K. Martin. Both have never held county office and live near Crosby and in the district respectively. Rumor of Mrs. Frank Blackwell seeking the post could not be confirmed. Judge Martin noted she had not qualified.

Patterson to Seek Congressional Job in Alabama

Andrew G. Patterson of Decatur announced in Montgomery his decision to run for Representative in Congress from Alabama's Eighth District. He will file with the secretary of state within the week, challenging incumbent Ed B. Almon, who seeks reelection after 16 years in office. The district includes Morgan Limestone Lawrence Madison Jackson Lauderdale and Colbert Counties. Patterson formerly led the Alabama Public Service Commission and resigned to accept the probate judge appointment in Morgan County.

Revenue Board Meets Adjourns Until Monday

Houston county Revenue Board adjourned shortly after convening then to reconvene Monday at 11 oclock. Probate Judge Harry K. Martin said the board will review claims set the salary of the newly elected county treasurer and complete its three months report.

Two Boys Arrested At Scene Of Still

In Tuscaloosa Alabama on February 11 state and county officers found two boys ages 9 and 7 at a still. They are K C Booth and J C Booth sons of Patton Booth. No charges against the boys were filed. The adults, including a man named Daniels, were arrested and charged with daulling. Juvenile court to handle the boys' cases.

Cop acquitted in Prohi case over agent’s testimony

Birmingham dated Feb 11 reports Mountain Brook police officer Ed Pattillo acquitted by a federal jury. He claimed an undercover prohibition agent and a woman posed as injured in a wreck and asked for whiskey, which Pattillo obtained before his arrest.

Atlanta Dispatcher Killed in Apartment Slaying

In Atlanta, John 8. Gorman a train dispatcher at the terminal station was shot to death in the apartment of Mrs. Reggie French. French admitted killing him claiming he threatened to kill her before she fired. Police found two pistols and three bullet holes in the room. The slain man's wife disputed parts of French's statement.

Former deputy prohibition official named for new enforcement bureau

The San Francisco Examiner reports AY Oftedah, ex deputy prohibition commissioner under Dr. James H. Doran, has been offered the head of the prohibition enforcement bureau when it moves to the Department of Justice. Attorney General William B. Mitchell reportedly conferred with Oftedah in Washington yesterday.
